European
Union governments today failed to
agree on a contentious proposal to
approve a genetically modified corn
made by a US company for use in
processed food.
Diplomats said EU environment
ministers meeting in Luxembourg were
deadlocked in a vote on giving
approval to the introduction of the
corn product, known as NK603.
Nine EU countries – Latvia,
Denmark, Cyprus, Hungary, Malta,
Italy, Greece, Austria and Luxembourg
– voted against the licence, and
two countries, Belgium and Spain,
abstained.
Nine others, led by Britain and the
Netherlands were for the approval.
The stalemate however, will not
prevent the EU’s head office
from approving the corn for sale on
the European market. That decision is
expected in the next few weeks,
officials said.
The European Commission urged EU
governments last Friday to approve
the corn hybrid, produced by Monsanto
in St Louis, Missouri, after it
underwent “a thorough safety
assessment for any adverse impact on
public health”.
The union last month lifted its
six-year moratorium on approving
genetically modified organisms.

"Brussels Satanic sects
involved in bizarre rites including
human sacrifice are being linked by
Belgian police with this summer's
string of grisly paedophile murders
in which at least four children died.
Five witnesses came forward last week
and described how black masses were
held, at which children were killed
in front of audiences said to have
included prominent members of Belgian
society. One investigator said it was
"like going back to the Middle
Ages". The tentacles of the
sects appear to have stretched beyond
the borders of Belgium, to Holland,
Germany and even America. The
witnesses - several of whom claim to
have received death threats - say
that young babies were handed over by
their parents willingly in return for
money. In other cases the victims
were abducted. The witnesses, who are
believed to have identified the sites
where the masses took place to the
police, said organisers had also
photographed participants and
threatened to hand over the pictures
if they went to the police. The
investigation centres on Abrasa*, a
self-styled institute of black magic,
whose headquarters in the village of
Forchies-la-Marche in southern
Belgium was raided by police last
week. Human skulls were among the
objects removed from the run down
building. Forchies-la-Marche is near
the city of Charleroi, where Marc
Dutroux, the unemployed electrician
accused of the paedophile killings,
was arrested in August. The bodies of
four victims of the ring were dug up
at properties he owned - but he is
feared to have killed many more.
Police have long suspected that
Dutroux, a convicted paedophile, was
part of an international network
which abducted children, sexually
abused them and then killed them.
Their activities appear to have been
financed by the sale of pornographic
videos filmed by members of the ring.
However the revelation of a possible
Satanic link has added a bizarre
twist to the affair, which has shaken
the police and judiciary and plunged
Belgium into an unprecedented wave of
soul searching over the past few
months. Investigators are still
trying to determine the precise
nature of the links between the
Satanists and the paedophile group.
In a separate twist, a Belgian
newspaper claimed yesterday that A
FORMER EUROPEAN COMMISSIONER was
among a group of JUDGES, SENIOR
POLITICIANS, LAWYERS AND POLICEMEN
who attended orgies held in a Belgian
chateau and organised by Michel
Nihoul, one of Dutroux's alleged
accomplices. La Derniere Heure, which
claimed to have a guest list, did not
name the commissioner but said he
"came with a girl, Josette,
nicknamed JoJo, the Bomb".
Belgian police, using bulldozers and
mechanical diggers, resumed their
search yesterday of disused
mineshafts in Jumet, a suburb of
Charleroi, where they believe Dutroux
and his gang may have buried bodies.
A team of 12 pot-holers has also been
called in. "We are convinced
that we are going to find something
interesting here", said Guy
Soumoy, a spokesman for the local
police. Police first searched the
area, with its warren of abandoned
mine shafts, two months ago, after
Dutroux suggested they look there.
They returned earlier this month
after a further, apparrently more
detailed tip-off from Michelle
Martin, Dutroux's wife and alleged
accomplice."

Herald's Home Affairs Editor, Neil
Mackay, the British intelligence
services are actively engaged in
preventing any further child sex
revelations that could incite further
hostility to an already unpopular
Prime Minister and destroy the morale
of troops set to invade Iraq. An
intelligence officer told Mackay that
"a 'rolling' Cabinet committee
had been set up to work out how to
deal with the potentially ruinous
fall-out for both Tony Blair and the
government if arrests occur."
Some commentators, mindful that one
of Tony Blair's closest confidante's
is a practising paedophile, are even
suggesting that this particular
scandal, and not Blair's repeated
lies and fabricated reports in regard
to Iraq, may well prove the downfall
of a government mired in sleaze and
corruption. The Sunday Times is
reported to have obtained an FBI list
of Labour MPs who have used credit
cards to pay for internet child
pornography, and Blair has responded
by imposing a massive news blackout,
failing however to stop the arrest of
one of his most important aides,
Phillip Lyon.
The latest allegations came to light
following a campaign to lift the
secrecy on the Dunblane massacre.
Large sections of the police report
were banned from the public domain
under a 100-year secrecy order. Lord
Cullen, an establishment insider,
also omitted and censored references
to the documents in his final report.
Parents and teachers were advised to
concentrate their efforts on a
campaign to outlaw handguns instead
of focusing on how the mentally
unstable Freemason, already known by
the police to be a paedophile, had
obtained a firearms licence for six
handguns. Hamilton allegedly enjoyed
good relations with both local Labour
luminary George Robertson and Michael
Forsyth, the then Scottish Secretary
of State and MP for Stirling. Forsyth
congratulated and encouraged Hamilton
for running a boy's club. Hamilton
was also found to have exchanged
letters with the British monarch,
Queen Elizabeth.
The rumours and allegations
concerning Lord Robertson's ties to
Hamilton, and the possibility that
the American intelligence services
may be blackmailing Tony Blair into
continued support for a U.S. invasion
of Iraq, have been given fire by
internet investigator and
intelligence expert Michael Keaney:
"An additional, and potentially
explosive, aspect of US leverage over
Blair is the FBI's investigation of
users of child porn websites which
has already claimed a number of high
profile scalps. [....] The biggest
two fish that come to mind are indeed
high profile: firstly there is George
Robertson, who today has announced
that he will step down as NATO
Secretary General after four years
and two months in the job. Were he to
be fingered the fall out would be
spectacular but short-lived -- he's
been a long time out of the cabinet
and is sufficiently distant from Tony
to be regarded as not requiring the
presentational finesse of a
"rolling" Cabinet
committee, whatever that might be.
However, our second candidate is most
certainly very closely identified
with the prime minister, and retains
a high profile [and] continues to
operate at a very high level indeed,
whether in Europe, Japan, or even the
Middle East."
"Peter Mandelson began political
life as a member of the Communist
Party, soon "seeing the
light" and instead getting
involved with the CIA/MI6-financed
Socialist International youth wing
and the Labour Party, through which
he rose in parallel with his
experience working at London Weekend
Television with other A-list regulars
like John Birt and Michael Maclay,
now public mouthpiece of Hakluyt, the
private sector spook outfit run by a
bunch of "ex" MI6 types
including the widow of ex-Labour

background and connections makes
Mandelson very useful in the sort of
corridors-and-alleyways diplomacy and
networking that is the real substance
of international relations and

the damage this could cause may
fatally wound Blair."

is the publication of an article in
last Sunday's Observer by David
Aaronovitch. He and Mandelson are
longtime friends, having been
together in the Communist Party and
at London Weekend TV. Aaronovitch
was, until recently, a leading
political commentator for the
Independent, on whose
"international advisory
board" (the standard vanity
collection of august persons put
together for the ego of newspaper
proprietors like Tony O'Reilly and
Conrad Black) sits Peter
Mandelson."
"Since switching to the Guardian
Media Group at the beginning of this
year or thereabouts, Aaronovitch
authored an article on child abuse in
which he pleads for common sense to
prevail, rather than the lynch mob:
'Strangely I trust the police to act
sensibly (because, like the analysts,
they’ve seen it all): it's the
rest of us I worry about.'"
"That much depends upon the
behaviour of the US Justice
Department, which ultimately has
responsibility for the investigation,
must be a worry for Blair. One need
only imagine how this must colour the
views of John Ashcroft regarding the

place. How easy would it be for the
suspect to be named in a story that
miraculously surfaced outside of the

re-run of the Spycatcher fiasco of

list, we can see that already this
'rolling' cabinet committee is busy
leaking stories that serve at least
to delay the shock of the inevitable,
eventual revelation, buying valuable
time if nothing else. Thus you can
depend on the Guardian to save the
day for Tony, and here's some helpful
tip-offs courtesy of MI6 that help to
distract from what's really going on,
whilst bolstering the reputation for
integrity and financial propriety
that has marked Blair's dealings with
businesspeople like Bernie
Ecclestone, Richard Desmond, Lakshmi
Mittal, etc."
"I have come to the considered
conclusion," says a
correspondent of Keaney, William
Palfreman, "that the events
surrounding the Dunblane massacre,
and the subsequent submissions to the
Cullen enquiry that have been put
under to 100 years of secrecy, far
out weigh in political significance
issues such as our opposition to the
EU [and] what it entails. It is
inconceivable that T Blair, Jack
Straw [and] Gordon Brown can survive
in office as this matter becomes
known. It totally undermines the
Labour government, and could easily
be a case of the Queen feeling she
has to use reserve powers to call an
emergency general election, such
would be the loss of
confidence."
"This scandal is far more
important that anything that has
happened here in living memory, in
fact I can think of no parallel for
it. It certainly pisses all over
anything that happened to Kennedy or
was done by Nixon. I am surprised,
given the gravity of this matter,
that [an] attempt has yet to be made
on his life, for surely we are
dealing with desperate people here.
It also explains a few strange
things, such as just why T Blair
& co. were so keen to ban all
handguns, and why such obviously
talentless nobodies like George
Robertson have risen from being
backbench nobodies a couple of years
ago to Defence Secretary, and now
Secretary-General of Nato."

there a national security risk so
great, that documents part of the
public enquiry are now state secrets
to be held for 100 years? Funny kind
of public enquiry. Why, when Thomas
Hamilton's application for a gun
licence was turned down, due to him
being regarded as a man of unsound
character [and] him being the object
of several paedophilia
investigations, did his MP, our
friend George Robertson (now Lord
Robertson, Secretary-General of
NATO), write him a glowing character
reference, and personally see to it
that his application was successful,
when he knew the grounds for the
original refusal were because he was
suspected of procuring boys for
sexual services?"
"Or take a certain boat seized
on Loch Ness [Loch Lomond] by the
Strathclyde Police. It is a very rare
thing for assets to be seized in the
UK, as [there] are no
asset-forfeiture laws. When it does
happen, there is normally a trial at
least, with things only being seized
if they are proven to be bought with
money proven to be consequence of a
proven crime. Even then, they are
sold by public auction. How come,
then, was this very valuable boat
sold for the tiny sum of £5000,
without an auction, to none other
than our friend Thomas Hamilton, a
man of no financial means whatsoever,
nor a sailor, nor lived anywhere near
any open water. Why did not the boats
owners complain about having their
property stolen from them in this
manner? I can only conclude because
it was being used for some very
serious criminal activity, and those
on board were merely glad to escape
prosecution. Also, it seems rather
odd in such circumstances that not
only were the owners happy to avoid
prosecution enough to lose a valuable
boat, but that the Strathclyde Police
were not willing to prosecute. And
yet, after these improbable events,
it wound up in none other than our
friend Hamilton's hands. Could he
have been a blackmailer as well as a
paedophile?"
"But the main thing is what
might explain sections of the public
enquiry are now under the hundred
year rule. There are only three
levels of secrecy in the UK for state
secrets, the 30 year rule, the 80
year rule and the 100 year rule.
Normal secrets, like Cabinet
discussions, government papers,
espionage, all that, are under the 30
year rule. Only a very small number
of things ever reached the 80 year
rule, particularly events in the
Sudan with Kitchener in 1902, where
it seems that an act of genocide was
committed, and some things that
happened 1914-18, as well as things
like potential peace negotiations in
1941, and just about everything to do
with the IRA (after all, people are
still alive after 30 years) come
under the 80 year rule. Of them, the
darkest of state secrets, when the
events of '02 were getting a bit
close to their limit for comfort, a
further class of secrets was created
to last a hundred years, and tiny
number of things were put in it -
e.g. Kitchener in '02, some World War
I things."
But none of these things can be said
to apply to Dunblane. That was a case
of a common criminal [and] sexual
pervert committing some fairly
ordinary murders, of a kind that
happen from time to time. Even if a
backbench Labour MP was implicated,
or may have been involved in a large
paedophile ring in Scotland, that is
not a matter of vital national
importance. You have a prosecution,
there is a bit of a scandal, everyone
is disgusted and one MP goes to
prison. Big deal: such things happen.
You certainly would not make such
information a state secret just to
save one unnamed backbench nobody's
miserable neck. Governments simply
don't go to such extreme lengths to
save nobodies - power broking just
doesn't work like that. There must be
issues of profound national
importance working here, and I put it
to you that anything that involves
certain events in Scotland is more
likely to be someone of cabinet level
than anything else.
If the physiologically flawed
[although Thomas Hamilton was these
were the words of Tony Blair when
speaking of Gordon Brown] Thomas
Hamilton was the centre of a
paedophile ring in Scotland that
procured boys to people of the
amongst the highest rank, and Tony
Blair [and] Jack Straw covered this
up by the Official Secrets Act (They
would do the covering, as both the
Prime Minister's [and] Home
Secretary's permission is needed to
put some something under the 100 year
rule.) it is hard to see how they or
their close colleges could possibly
remain in office, even if they were
never inclined to such flawed
behaviour themselves. The government
would fall."
That prospect seems to be energising
a government now considered to be
fighting for its political life, even
to the extent of killing the review
process by which some of the banned
sections of the Cullen Report would
be made public, arguing that freedom
of information would somehow harm
other abused children in Dunblane.
In a recent interview with the
Guardian newspaper, Michael Matheson,
the Scottish National Party's shadow
deputy justice minister, said:
"There are more documents
covered by the 100-year rule than
this police report. Some of them have
nothing whatsoever to do with
children. We need to look at why such
a lengthy ban has been imposed on
them. I have been contacted by a
number of families affected by the
tragedy who are anxious to ensure
this information becomes public. And
so far we have no guarantee that it
will. We only have a review."
"It is important we make
available, if it is at all possible,
any information that is available
about people in the public eye,"
said the Scottish first minister,
Jack McConnell.
When Tony Blair took office following
a landslide victory in 1997, few
commentators would have suggested
that this man would be willing to
drag his country into a war of
unjustified aggression against a
people that have done no harm to the
British public. Nor would anyone have
surmised that a Labour government
would hitch its political fortunes to
a shabby cabal of fanatical
neoconservative Zionists working to
make real their much-touted biblical
Armageddon. And no one could have
predicted that Blair's nominally
"Christian" administration
would transform itself into a
licentious club of flamboyant
homosexual cruisers and
out-of-control paedophiles.
But it is now becoming shockingly
apparent that Labour's slavish
adherence to the Bush line on Iraq
may have less to do with principled
arguments, and much more to do with
the fear of CIA and FBI revelations
that would make them two of the most
hated politicians in modern British
political history.

are trying to trace an 11-year-old Co
Cork girl who has been missing since
Friday.
The
girl, who has not been named, was last
seen late on 18 June at her home in
Pullerick, Crookstown.
She
is described as 4'11", of thin
build, with blue eyes and shoulder-length
blonde hair. and was wearing navy
trousers, brown shoes and a brown
'hoodie' type top.

SADISTIC killer Conor Doyle was
acting out a macabre scene from a
gory crime-thriller when he brutally
stabbed his pretty ex-girlfriend 70
TIMES.
Heartbroken relatives of
attractive blonde Angela Snoddy (21)
last night revealed how the
body-building psycho had read the
blood-curdling passage to his victim
just WEEKS before.
And they claim he told Angela:
"This is how I'm going to KILL
you!"
Doyle (23), from north Belfast,
was caged for just 10 years last week
after stabbing his ex-girlfriend 70
times using every large knife there
was in her kitchen.
Angela's outraged mum Helen said
the sentence - the lowest handed down
for a murder in Northern Ireland -
was a "pat on the back for Doyle
and other men like him".
Said Helen: "That judge has
basically said that it's OK to beat
and murder your wife or girlfriend.
"That wasn't justice - Doyle
winked and laughed at me on his way
out of court."
Helen said her beloved daughter
had tried everything to get away from
sicko Doyle.
During their 18-month
relationship, the barman had
subjected pretty Angela to numerous
beatings after she fell pregnant with
their son Conor, who will be two in
August.
He wanted a child - but after
Angela got pregnant, that's when the
abuse started," said Helen.
"Angela kept it from me for a
long time - she was very proud.
"But one day she just broke
down, and told me everything."
Not only did he beat Angela, Doyle
also laid into her daughter from a
previous relationship, Chloe, who was
just three years old at the time.
"On one occasion, after
beating her mum, he hung Chloe by her
ankles and punched her in the
face," added Helen.
"You should have seen her
face - it was so bruised and swollen.
"I've never seen anything
like it."
Angela's sister Carleen explained
how the violent memory of Doyle still
haunts Chloe in her sleep.
"She still screams out for
her mummy at night, and for a very
long time she couldn't go near any
man with dark hair.
"She was terrified of
them," said the 19-year-old.
"Sometimes he would lock
Chloe in a cupboard when he beat her
mum."
Angela broke off her relationship
with bodybuilder Doyle when she was
seven months' pregnant.
But - even when she sought shelter
in emergency accommodation - he
tracked her down.
"He would break the door down
to get to her," said mum Helen.
"Just a few weeks after she
gave birth to Conor, he went to her
house and trailed her out of bed and
down the stairs by her hair."
After that, Angela confided in her
mum that she couldn't protect herself
or her children against Doyle any
more.
Fearing for her children's safety,
the young mum-of-two took the
heartbreaking decision to put Conor
into care.
"I took Chloe," said
Helen, "but I wouldn't take
Conor, because we were afraid of
Doyle.
"He had threatened to put me
and Carleen into wooden boxes."
Angela was attempting to rebuild
her life and she had moved into a new
house.
"She went to a doctor and
told her everything. She advised
Angela to go to the police and seek a
non-molestation order against Doyle.
"He was handed the order on
October 12, and he killed Angela on
October 13."
Doyle had cut Angela's telephone
so she couldn't call for help, and
crept in through a bathroom window.
When her body was found, her head was
almost severed.
But, when police picked up Doyle,
he told them: "She'll not sign
my child over to social services.
"At least I'll see my child
in 20 years, she won't. Her family
wants to put me down. I put her down
- tough s**t."
Helen has vowed to appeal trial
judge Mr Justice Weir's decision. She
is bringing up Chloe and Conor with
the support of her family.

Terrorists order boy of 10 into exile

A 10-YEAR-OLD boy has been ordered
out of Northern Ireland by the UVF.
The boy, from the Monkstown estate
in Newtownabbey, was forced to flee
his home last week by a gang from the
crisis-hit terrorist group.
They blamed the child - who police
have now taken to a safe haven in
Bangor - for a spate of 'anti-social'
crimes, including vandalising a UVF
drinking den.
But local UUP MP Roy Beggs last
night branded the UVF's treatment of
the boy as "abhorrent and
sickening".
The youngster was taken by police
to the Juvenile Justice Centre
(JJCNI) in Bangor, which will remain
his home until his family finalise
plans for him to join relatives in
England.
This is understood to be the
fourth time he has had to flee from
his home following threats from
loyalist terror groups.
He is believed to be the youngest
person ever to have been forced to
flee the country by paramilitaries.
The boy's exile was sanctioned by
the local UVF 'brigadier', after he
was accused of smashing mirrors in a
loyalist drinking den.
He is alleged to have broken into
the club to steal cash from fruit
machines, but destroyed the mirrors
before leaving empty-handed.
It was in the same club where pub
doorman Trevor Gowdy was allegedly
savagely attacked by UVF abductors in
December 2002.
It is understood the boy has also
been accused of robbing pensioners,
and of stealing money from a local
church.
And he has been blamed for a spate
of burglaries in the estate.
A senior UVF source told Sunday
Life the boy's fate was sealed when
he vandalised the club.
Said the source: "The lad may
only be 10, but he has engaged in all
sorts of anti-social behaviour and
the people have had enough - that's
why they went to the UVF.
"It is obvious the kid does
have problems, and he has driven his
father crazy, but the last straw was
breaking into the club and smashing
the mirrors.
"The local UVF unit had to
take a stand to show everyone this
sort of thing won't be tolerated,
regardless of what age people
are."
Monkstown PUP representative,
Billy Greer, declined to comment.

Hutchinson, whose party is linked to
the UVF, said: "I don't know
anything about this, you'll have to
talk to people in the estate."
But Mr Beggs hit out at the UVF
threat, saying: "It is abhorrent
and sickening that a 10-year-old
child should be subjected to such an
ordeal for alleged anti-social
behaviour.
"It is a sad reflection on
our society that such a cowardly act
as this has happened and I utterly
condemn such depraved behaviour.
Nothing justifies a group of men
threatening a minor.
"People should contact the
PSNI and let the court service do its
job, instead of calling on
paramilitaries, who only hand out
rough injustice and misery."
North Belfast man Raymond McCord,
whose son Raymond jr was murdered by
the UVF, condemned the group's
hypocrisy.
He said: "Why will the UVF
not exile its members for engaging in
extortion, murder and drug dealing?
It's disgraceful what they have done
to this kid.
"The 'brigadier' who
sanctioned this kid's exile is
nothing but a drunken coward, who
wouldn't even speak to me when my son
was murdered."
A police spokeswoman added:
"We do not discuss the security
of individuals, but if we feel
someone may be at risk, we take the
necessary steps to advise them."

BRUSSELS
- In Belgium, the X-Files refer
not to the U.S. television series but
to a series of horrific witness
accounts of an alleged pedophile
network.
The
five women and the male transvestite
who testified anonymously in Belgium
under the code-name ''X'' described
an underworld of snuff movies and
sadomasochist torture that was almost
impossible to believe. And they said
that politicians and other highly
placed members of society were
involved.
The
conventional wisdom is that the
witnesses were either deranged or
were recounting fantasies. It was, in
the jargon of psychiatrists, a bad
case of false-memory syndrome.
But a
new book by three crime reporters,
''The X-Files: What Belgium Was Not
Supposed to Know About the Dutroux
Affair,'' published in French and
Dutch in November, asserts that the
X-witnesses were more credible than
the conventional wisdom suggests.
The
book draws copiously from police
files, transcriptions of the
X-witnesses' evidence, the findings
of a parliamentary commission and
other sources. Even if the way the
X-witnesses testified seemed
irrational, the authors say, many of
the facts they described stand up to
scrutiny.
The
book asserts that the evidence
indicates a huge effort by
magistrates and senior police
officials to demolish the testimony
of the X-witnesses.
The
authors infer from this evidence that
there was considerable official
interest in laying the blame for the
pedophile scandal that exploded in
1996 entirely on Marc Dutroux, a
convicted rapist and child abductor,
who faces charges of kidnapping six
young girls and murdering four of
them. To admit otherwise, the authors
argue, would have allowed the affair
to threaten the stability of the
nation, as it almost did when Mr.
Dutroux stole the gun of a police
guard in 1998 and escaped. That
episode led to the resignation of two
government ministers.
Judicial
authorities are not allowed to
comment publicly on the case, but a
retired prosecutor, Judge Guy
Poncelet, called the thesis of the
book ''brilliant and convincing.'' He
said that ''certain political and
judicial authorities,'' with the help
of the state radio and television and
much of the press, had deliberately
played down disturbing evidence
uncovered in the Dutroux
investigation.
Judge
Poncelet's son, a police officer, was
involved in another case in which Mr.
Dutroux was implicated. He was
investigating the trafficking of
stolen cars in 1996 when he was shot
and killed in an unsolved murder.
Since
last year, Judge Poncelet said, there
has been a ''revisionist'' current in
Belgium, intended to restore
confidence in the state after a chain
of extraordinary crimes, including
the Dutroux case, the murder of the
Socialist leader Andre Cools, and an
unsolved series of random murders at
supermarkets.
The
arrest of Mr. Dutroux in August 1996
brought a provincial prosecutor,
Judge Jean-Marc Connerotte, to the
world's attention. In rescuing two
kidnapped girls from Mr. Dutroux's
underground dungeon, the judge became
a national hero.
To
lead the investigation of Mr.
Dutroux, Judge Connerotte brought in
one of the National Gendarmerie's top
officers, Patriek De Baets, and his
team of investigators.
But a
few weeks later, as 300,000 Belgians
marched in a demonstration of
national grief and solidarity, the
country's highest legal authorities
removed Judge Connerotte from the
case because he had accepted an
invitation from the grateful parents
of the rescued girls to a
fund-raising dinner for families of
missing children.
In
Belgium, prosecutors are supposed to
remain strictly impartial.
Nonetheless, Judge Connerotte's
removal caused a national uproar. In
his defense, the judge said he did
not realize that the dinner was a
fund-raiser.
Mr. De
Baets was in charge of interrogating
the X-witnesses after they
volunteered to give information. The
most controversial of them was a
young woman originally known only as
X1, but whose real name, it emerged,
was Regina Louf.
Amid
silence and tears during the course
of several all-night interrogations,
she poured out a terrifying tale of
having been sold into prostitution by
her grandmother and later introduced
into a circle of orgies at which, she
said, she had seen young children
tortured and murdered.
The
other X-witnesses, one of whom worked
for the police, told similar stories
of childhood abuse, and described
hunts at which children were chased
through woods with Dobermans.
Mr. De
Baets, the book says, became
convinced that the horrors Mrs. Louf
dredged up from her memory
corresponded to the truth. He had
each of her statements checked out,
and discovered that she had
inexplicably detailed knowledge of
the unsolved murders of two young
women in the 1980s that supported the
thesis of a conspiracy.
''We
tried to find out if what she said
was possible,'' Mr. De Baets later
said, ''and yes, it was possible.''
According
to the authors, senior magistrates
and gendarmerie officials became
concerned about the sweeping scope
that the investigation was assuming
and about the enormity of the
evidence. They therefore initiated an
inquiry into Mr. De Baets's handling
of the case, which eventually
consumed as much time and energy as
the investigation itself.
''The
suspicion grew that De Baets and
others formed part of a sect bent on
destabilizing the kingdom,'' the book
says, adding that because of this,
Mr. Baets and his colleagues were
dropped from the investigation and
sent home on indefinite leave.
In
1997, a judge charged Mr. De Baets
with concealing the fact that Mrs.
Louf had incorrectly identified the
photograph of a murder victim, which
would have seriously undermined her
evidence. In fact, the authors said,
the videotape of the interrogation
showed that Mrs. Louf was deeply
averse to looking at the photographs.
It was later established that the
missing piece of evidence, known as a
proces verbal, had been in the files
all along.
Mr. De
Baets was exonerated this year. In
November, two journalists from Le
Soir Illustre, who were judged to
have defamed him and four colleagues,
were ordered to pay the gendarmes 2.2
million Belgian francs ($55,000),
plus costs. Mr. De Baets and his
colleagues, however, remain on leave.
THE
''X-FILES'' was written by two
reporters from the newspaper De
Morgan, Annemie Bulte and Douglas De
Coninck, and a reporter from the
weekly Journal du Mardi, Marie-Jeanne
Van Heeswyck, who is appealing a
500,000-franc fine for revealing
prosecution secrets.
The
internal investigation into Mr. De
Baets dragged on so long that its
details were never passed to a
parliamentary commission of inquiry
into the Dutroux investigation. Even
so, the commission, headed by the
present justice minister, Marc
Verwilghen, was scathing in its
condemnation of police inefficiency
and the way in which prosecutors
jealously kept information to
themselves.
Mr. De
Baets's superiors re-examined the
transcripts of the interrogations of
Mrs. Louf several times. The authors
say the investigators had such a poor
grasp of Dutch, in which the
interviews were conducted, that they
changed or misunderstood meanings in
a way that discredited the witness.
Aime
Bille, one of Mr. Baets's
collaborators, said in a recent
interview that Mrs. Louf's testimony
corroborated details of cases on
which gendarmes already were working.
The discrediting of her evidence, Mr.
Bille said, brought these
investigations to a halt, meaning
that the truth may never be
discovered.
According
to the book, the X-witnesses said
that the prostitution, or worse, of
children was commonplace. Mr. Bille
tried to establish how many children
had gone missing in Belgium. Several
of the prosecutors' offices failed to
reply, but the Brussels region
reported that 1,300 minors
disappeared between 1991 and 1996.
Mr. De
Baets established that after several
of the disappearances, Mr. Dutroux
paid large sums of money into several
bank accounts. Within four years of
being released early from jail, where
he had served time for rape and
kidnapping, Mr. Dutroux - whose only
official income was a welfare check -
was worth an estimated 6 million
francs, suggesting to investigators
that he was acting for others higher
up in a pedophile and prostitution
ring.
Mr. De
Coninck said that in researching the
book, he and his fellow authors had
become convinced that officials
wanted to prove that Mr. Dutroux
acted alone rather than as part of a
conspiracy.
Mr.
Dutroux will go on trial, probably in
2001, along with his wife, Michele
Martin, and another alleged
accomplice, Michel Lelievre. By that
time the statute of limitations on
most of the unsolved murders
described in the book will have run
out.

Milan death linked to Satanist rock

New details have emerged this week of
an alleged cabal of young Satanists
connected to Milan's heavy metal scene,
who are accused of murdering at least two
people while drunk and high.
The revelations began last week when
two shallow graves were uncovered in
woods near Somma Lombardo, north-west of
Milan. One contained the remains of
19-year-old Chiara Marino, who according
to the confession of one of the group was
stabbed to death because they thought she
was the personification of the Virgin
Mary.
The other victim, Fabio Tollis, was a
guitarist in the same group as three of
the young men arrested in connection with
the murders, the Circus of Satanis.
Marino and Tollis were last heard of
in January 1998, and their disappearance
remained a mystery until Mario M, one of
the four arrested and a former member of
Circus of Satanis, began talking to the
police.
The group, he said, whose musical name
had changed to The Beasts of Satan, were
devil-worshippers whose so-called
"spiritual leader" is Nicola
Sapone, a 26-year-old plumber, who was
also arrested but is not a musician in
the group.
The group liked to hang out in a heavy
metal bar in Milan called Midnight, and
it was in January 1988, according to
Mario M's confession, that they drove
with Marino and Tollis to the remote
wooded spot outside Milan and stabbed
them to death. According to police it was
their second attempt to kill the pair.
They had already tried to burn them alive
in their car.
In a further outpouring this week,
Mario M, not fully named because he was a
minor when the murders were committed,
claimed that the pair were put in their
graves alive. "They were still
alive," he was quoted as saying by
police sources. "I heard sounds
coming out of the pit, they weren't
finished yet."
Yesterday La Repubblica
newspaper linked another murder to the
group: a 19-year-old nightclub singer,
Maddalena Russo, who was strangled with a
belt in 1985 and her body abandoned in a
field. The corpse had been horribly
mutilated.
The Italian media are now feverishly
seeking other clues to explain the extent
of the Satanic network, with most
interest focused on Turin, where a
Satanic church was founded in the 1960s.
One reporter claimed to have discovered
in Turin the true ringleader of the sect,
nicknamed "the first born son of the
devil" and related to one of the
four arrested. Members of the extended
group, it is claimed, celebrate black
masses all over Italy.
Parents of the accused and the victims
professed themselves bewildered by what
had happened. "These kids were just
normal," said one of them. "I
can't understand what happened to them.
How was I to know that the guitar I gave
him as a prize would be the beginning of
the end?"

Former
circuit judge David Selwood has pleaded
guilty to 13 counts of making and
possessing child pornography. Selwood
retired early on health grounds from his
job as resident judge at Portsmouth Crown
Court a few weeks ago.The 69-year-old of
Winchester, Hampshire, entered his plea
at London's Bow Street Magistrates Court.
He had
been charged with 12 counts of making
indecent photos of a child in March and
April this year and one count of
possessing an indecent photo of a child
in April

Benny works with also promotes Christian
reconciliation with homosexuals and the
ordination of homosexuals as ministers,
priests and bishops. The Knights Templar were
the powerful medieval chivalric order from
which the present orders of Freemasonry
evolved. They claim to be working to restore
traditional values,however, the evidence of
history presents a rather different testimony
as to moral values of the Templars. Dr. Cathy
Burns wrote of the homosexual proclivities of
the medieval Templars in her book, Hidden
Secrets of the Eastern Star:
"In the
book entitled The Guilt of the Templars, we
are told that 'the Knights Templars'confessions
show them to have been basically homosexual
warrior order...' Other chargers were that
the Knights Templar participated in black
magic and pederasty (anal intercourse,

sex-worship and Satanism and venerated 'The Baphomet,'

White is the senior minister at Coventry
Cathedral in the U.K.
The
"Community of the Cross of Nails"
is an extension of Coventry Cathedrals
international ministry. The Cathedral is part
of the Anglican Diocese of Canterbury.
"In
1998, Andrew was installed as Director of
International Ministry for the Diocese
and Cathedral of Coventry. Since
then he has headed up Coventry’s
international ministry of reconciliation,
more recently with Canon Justin Welby,
which includes conflict resolution and
the Community of the Cross of Nails, with
centres in over 50 countries."
Also White is
linked with Dr Carey who was the
Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury but is now
involved with the World Bank organisation World Faith
Development Dialogue whose aims are
to unite the three faiths in the Middle East.
Benny Hinn on his T.V. show, "This Is
Your Day" had Canon White on as a
guest during this last week (end of May 04).
Hinn repeatedly said to the camera and his
studio audience that .'This is a Man of God
people, filled with the Spirit." Hinn
commented that it is amazing how God
has White in the Middle East with all of
his connections... White for his part on
the show, said that Benny should come to the
Middle East and that White would arrange it,
that thousands would be saved. Hinn said that
he met White in the Dubai airport previously
and that he wanted him to come on his show.
If you read White's
website on his involvement
with Hinn it is a bit different.
"Benny
